Summer reading: The War that Saved my Life

Welcome back to the library for 2017!

We hope you had a great holiday and kept reading.  We're looking forward to another fun year in the library and sharing some great books with you.  Here's our Summer Pick:

The War that Saved my Life
by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley

During World War 2, nine year old Ada and her brother Jamie are evacuated from the city of London to the country. Ada was born with a physical disability called a 'club foot' and her cruel mother has kept her locked up inside and unable to walk all her life.

The children go to live with Susan who has her own problems. As Ada discovers freedom for the first time she faces challenges and adventures such as learning to ride a pony and looking for German spies.

This book is a great story about growing up and finding strength with action and adventure along the way. You will cry tears of sadness and happiness. 😥  ðŸ˜€

Suitable for Year 6.
